ABSIT
This year some of our senior students took part in an ABSIT workshop to learning more about Adressing Bullying type behaviour in Schools. The workshop was attended by students from all the post-primary and special schools in East Belfast.
The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of core aspects of the Addressing Bullying in Schools Act N.I. (2016) legislation and guidance.
The students from the different schools shared their understanding of the definition of bullying type behaviour and how it can be used in all schools in Northern Ireland. They also developed their knowledge of the potential signs/symptoms of bullying type behaviour and systems for reporting/sharing any concerns.
Most importantly they came away with understanding of what to do if they have a concern or one is shared with them , and the systems and processes for follow-up of concerns in their own school.
This workshop was a great opportunity to meet up with students in other schools. The students involved then took an assembly to share with the rest of the school community what they had learned.
